Mogul Mums: Kimora Lee Simmons

She’s a goddess in her own right. Glamorous, fearless and oozing with confidence Kimora Lee Simmons represents the perfect ‘power woman’ of today. When she`s not strutting down the run way, starring in her own television show or managing her Phat Fashion’s empire, she’s at home doing something a bit more demanding... looking after her children.
The 34 year old mum of three is a former top model, her own boss, a reality star AND a business entrepreneur. Kimora admits “My kids and my business make my world go round—they’re what I live for, but I also have to live for me!” Miss Lee Simmons is truly an inspiration. Not only because she`s a mogul mum, but because she`s one mogul mum who knows how to treat herself! Let’s face it; it all really starts with YOU! If you’re not in top form it can make your faily and work life more difficult.
So check out Kimora’s fabulous ‘you’ tips, designed to make you feel a little bit better and your job a whole lot easier!
Kimora`s Fabulous YOU tips!
Go on celebrate....
When was the last time you actually celebrated yourself? And I don`t mean on your birthday, I mean for all your hard work. Being a working mum is hard and tiring and sometimes you don`t feel appreciated. But that doesn`t mean you can`t appreciate yourself! One thing you have to love about Kimora is not only does she work hard but she celebrates her hard work; “Working moms should be doing this more, it`s a tough job, and there`s nothing wrong with giving yourself credit where it`s due.”
Embrace the fact that not only are you a working mum, but you’re a working mum  doing a TERRIFIC job! Whether you want to splash out on a new top or just ring a friend to tell them how great you did today go ahead and do it. We all feel better when we get something back from what we put in. Go ahead celebrate you, appreciate yourself and remember you’re fabulous!
Be Real...
We’ve heard it all a thousand times from so many working mums we need to prioritize, get organized and stick to a tight schedule. But sometimes we become so uptight we overload ourselves with pressure and when things don’t go to plan we end up stressed out and beating ourselves up. Kimora knows that although it`s good to plan sometimes you have to keep it real. “Sometimes you can`t worry about all the things on your list. You do what`s in front of you, and step–by–step you get it all done.” You will have good days and bad days, things won`t always run smoothly but hey that`s life. If your having a great day there’s nothing better and if you’re having a bad day just step back tackle the most important problem and before you know it you`ll be back on track and a lot less stressed.
Put your Game face on!
We all have ‘off days’. We don`t feel like leaving the house, we don`t feel like going to work and occasionally we don’t feel like being a mum. It`s absolutely normal, even Kimora has these days but one thing she`s learnt from her own mother is to kick these ‘off days’ to the curb.  “Put your game face on,” is what Kimora says. You have to learn not to let them throw you off course. “Yes, it hurts, but don`t succumb to it. It will pass, and in a way it helps me to get through it!”
 It`s natural to be scared:
We all get scared, worried or anxious sometimes. Going ahead in your career is scary, having a child is scary and both together can seem TERRIFYING! But don`t let that stop you. Being scared isn`t always a bad thing. One thing Kimora has learnt is that “fear can propel you.” But she uses it to her advantage. She admits taking chances with her career and deciding on being a new mum again is ‘scary’ but sometimes you just have to “embrace it”. Try and look past the initial feeling and see exactly what the benefits would be afterwards. If your offered a promotion at work yes it may mean longer hours and more work so you may be concerned about not being able to cope with the increased load, but think of the benefits. You may get extra holidays to spend with your children, you may get a pay increase, you may get more control of how you work. Look at Kimora, if she had let fear hold her back she wouldn’t be where she is now!
Keeping up appearances:
Kimora says “Things have changed so much for career women and we deserve respect.” But that respect has to come from you first. She says; “through it all you have to maintain a good self image and know how to look after you.” Kimora is definitely on the right track. So be real, put your game face on don`t be afraid to take risks but most of all celebrate! Celebrate YOU and the wonderful job you’re doing!
