Mogul Mums: Jennifer Garner

She is used to lunching and fine dining with the likes of Reece Witherspoon, memorising lines, filming in strange locations and even doing her own stunts! Jennifer Garner has played everything from a Police Officer to a Spy and even a thirteen year old! But her most recent role is something that requires a lot less directing and a little more improvisation. You guessed it, she is a Working Mum!

The 37 year old award winning actress knows that we all need HELP! When she’s not filming or spending time with her two daughters, she’s campaigning to ‘Make Time for Change’ designed to help promote a healthier lifestyle and nutritious snacks for children living in poverty.

She may not have a script, but one thing she does have is honesty about where she’s going wrong and a handful of ‘Helpful Hints.’
So check below and you will see that for some celebrity mums its light’s, camera... pheeeeeeew!!!
Jen’s Helpful Hints
HELP!!!!
Jada’s said it, I’ve said it and now Jen’s saying it too. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!     The sheer thought used to terrify her, but now Jen’s attitude is; “You should be asking for help at every given opportunity. Don't be afraid!” Jen says; “You really should try and get it wherever you can. Don't guilt yourself, really its okay.”
Its great having your ‘Mumtorage’ but that doesn’t mean you should limit yourself either!
“When I’m stuck I read books, I watch documentaries, I even read magazines.”
Go mad on Youtube, crazy down the library or even come right here and visit our very own ‘Mogul Mums’ section (after all that is what it’s here for). Either way do whatever you can to help yourself out and don’t feel guilty! We’re all in the same boat and sometimes we need that little extra support!
‘Mum Mode’
One thing Jennifer finds most difficult is the balance and often admits from time to time she will bring work home. We all know how hard it is playing two roles. You have to go to work and be a ‘professional’ and then you have to come home and be a ‘mum’. The switch between the two can be pretty tough especially when you’re driven in your career. One way Jen tackles this however is to switch on her ‘Mum Mode’. “When I’m at home I try my hardest to be there with my kids, and not someplace else. Sometimes you just need to put your blackberry down.” As difficult as it is try and prise yourself away from your laptop, blackberry or project proposal and instead flip the switch on your ‘Mum Mode.’
Your Mum ...
No, I’m really not insulting you here I’m merely suggesting you ask your OWN mum for a helping hand. We sometimes forget that our mothers were once in exactly the same position that we are in now. So wouldn’t it make sense to get advice from someone whose been there done it and got the t-shirt? Jen says “My mum is full of good advice, whenever I’m stuck in a rut I turn to her.” Yes not only would they love to help us, but I’m sure that just like their secret ingredient in that banana cake they will have a secret tip that can come in handy just for us. So next time you have a problem, need some help or simply a shoulder to cry on. Go visit, pick up the phone or send an e-mail. Whatever the problem, try asking your mum, aunt or anyone who has been there and got the t-shirt!
Trick your kids
She may be promoting healthy eating but that doesn’t mean that her children agree with her. Like most kids Jen’s hate eating vegetables and she doesn’t always have time to persuade her children to eat them. Her personal tip to making sure that they get all the nutrients they’re supposed too, is hiding veggies in their dinner. Not only that but she also makes her favourite ‘fruit smoothie’ which is nutritious, easy and can be whipped up in 10 minutes flat. Perfect for when you have to make a dash for that business meeting. "You use a banana, a bunch of mango and huge handfuls of spinach so it's green. But it tastes like mango and banana and the kids are really, really into the colour. They also don't taste the spinach at all. It’s quick easy and perfect if you’re in a hurry!"
So there we have it, remember to switch on your ‘Mum Mode’ ASK for help, pay your own Mogul Mum a visit and occasionally hide some veggies!
Jen says; "No matter whom we are or what our income, we all want the same... what’s best for our kids and sometimes you can’t do that without a little help!”

Jen’s adamant about being hands on and also not scared to admit; “I’m a working mum, sometimes I fake it, sometimes I struggle and sometimes I need help.”
