Mogul Mum: Mylene Klass
She’s presented with Gok Wan, modelled alongside Twiggy, composed albums, written a book and has launched a clothing line for Mothercare. Myleen Klass is one woman who’s definitely in full swing of her career. When she’s not jetting off to the US to film her new television series, or posing for the M&S range she’s at home tackling nappies, bath time and a teething toddler. This Mogul Mum is confident, classy, ambitious and most of all able to juggle it all! But how does she do it? She may be super busy, but she’s also full of some super great tips to pass on to the rest of us.
I guarantee you’ll be able to learn a thing or two from Miss Klass. So check below for Myleen’s Mumtastic Tips:
Learn to say No!
As we all know, the juggling act is one tough trick to master. However one way Myleen manages it is by learning that she can’t always say yes to every opportunity that comes her way.“I’m back at work, but I’m choosing my jobs carefully and sometimes I just have to say No. I want to spend as much time with my baby as possible but also I don’t want to give myself a breakdown by biting off more than I can chew.”
There will be certain jobs, hours or promotions that may come your way that you just won’t be able to do but don’t feel pressured to say yes or guilty for turning them down. Myleen says “I want to be a good example of a working mum but that means not always agreeing to everything.” So even if you have to practice ten times in the mirror first learn to say NO and realize there’s nothing wrong with it, in fact it could be the best thing you ever do!
It’s a challenge!
She may make it look easy, but Myleen admits that to be a working mum you need to be one tough cookie and ready to take on a challenge: “Being a working mum is TOUGH it’s one of the hardest things in the world”. Even a sussed super mum like Myleen finds it difficult. “When I get home from work, my day is not over. I need to prepare for the next day, I need to sterilize the bottles and I might even get around to making some dinner. I know it is the same for every working mother -- but it seems like nobody really talks about what a challenge it can be.” We admit it definitely is a challenge but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. “You learn, yes it’s hard and you have to work and push yourself but it can be done and it’s worth it!”
When YOU’RE ready

Like every new mum Myleen’s had time off work after her daughter was born. But when is the right time to get back out there? Myleen says when ‘YOU’ feel ready. “Do it in your own time, don’t be too hard on yourself. We all want healthy happy children but happy mummies make happy children. In the end it’s up to you but let your instincts guide you.” If you rush back to work when you’re not quite ready there might be a chance that you will not only regret it but also won’t be able to perform as well. Wait until you truly feel okay and then you can get back out there and continue taking your career by storm!
We’re all different
We may love asking for advice and getting help from others but sometimes what works for one woman won’t necessarily work for the other. Myleen’s advice for mums to be who are bombarded with birth suggestions is to remember that we’re not all the same. “I think my advice would be to just go with it your own way. We’re all different; you wouldn’t choose the same jacket as me if we went shopping, so why would my labour and birth be similar to anyone else’s? Choose something that your comfortable with and forget what everyone else says”. It may be hard when your friends have so many suggestions but remember we all have different bodies. Trust your own judgement and remember we’re all unique.
So remember learn to say NO, realize it can be a challenge, get back out there when you are ready and know that we are all different. Myleen says “I think any working mother will testify how hard it is to strike a happy balance. I mainly get my strength from seeing my friends and other mothers in the same position and seeing that it can be done”.
